PLK Communities Celebrates the Opening of the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences

At PLK Communities, we believe success carries a responsibility—to strengthen the communities we call home and invest in work that creates meaningful, lasting impact across Greater Cincinnati.

Last Friday, Talbert House marked an important milestone with the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences. PLK Communities was proud to be part of the celebration and to recognize our owner and president, Peter Klekamp, and his wife, Laura Klekamp, whose generosity and vision helped bring this project to life.

About the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences

Located in Walnut Hills, the Klekamp Family Veteran Residences is a newly constructed permanent supportive housing community designed to serve individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, with priority given to veterans with disabling conditions. The development includes 48 one-bedroom apartment homes, onsite property management, supportive services, shared community spaces, and amenities designed to promote stability and connection.

The building was constructed to LEED Gold standards. Notably, the community also features rooftop solar panels donated by the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, making it one of the first permanent supportive housing developments in the United States to incorporate solar energy.

In addition to meeting critical housing needs, the project honors the Geiger family legacy, now carried forward through Peter and Laura Klekamp’s continued commitment to giving back. The Klekamp Family Veteran Residences represents more than housing—it reflects a long-term investment in veterans and their families by connecting those who have served our country to the support, services, and stability needed to build a stronger future.
